Pollution of tap water: The Saur self-checks always reveal a level of bromates higher than the standard in force!

1

The results of the self-checks carried out last week by the delegate SAUR Saint-Martin, as part of the monitoring of this new pollution with bromates in the water distributed by the public network, confirm rates of bromates higher than the standard in force in different proportions depending on the sampling points on the network, the bromates showing a tendency to development over time.

In this sense, the EEASM recommends that the population continue to follow the precautionary measures recommended by the ARS, namely:

Prohibition of drinking, for cooking or brushing teeth.

Water can be used for the following uses: WC, cleaning surfaces, washing clothes and dishes, showers while being careful not to swallow it. There is no risk of skin absorption.

The ARS will not fail to communicate on its own controls and the public authorities will adapt their systems in a concerted manner.

We invite the public to stay in touch with the EEASM Facebook page and the media and recall that the measures recommended fall under the precautionary principle.

Without wanting to minimize this episode, the EEASM recommends users to stick to the factual elements, it is obvious that public health is the first priority of the stakeholders in the process of production and distribution of water.

In the meantime, the EEASM is continuing its consultations with experts in order to find the best adaptations to this new issue which remains little known on a global scale and towards which there are therefore only few references.

A cell of experts integrating diverse and international skills has thus been set up.

The EEASM claims that public health is the top priority for stakeholders in the water production and distribution process. the fact remains that a one-month delay between the alleged discovery of the bromates rate above the standard in May and the “recommendation” of the COM of the island of Saint at the end of June Martin poses a real legal problem.
Logically, consumers of city water as daily drinking water would in my opinion be entitled to lodge a complaint against the COM, the ARS, the prefecture and SAUR for non-disclosure in good time of elements seriously prejudicial to their health. and for willful poisoning at least between the end of May and the end of June, when the problem has finally “emerged”.
    loan.
the company that delivers this water, SAUR, says it is turning to experts on the pretext that the problem is “new”.

It suffices, however, to refer to studies that are already sufficiently advanced, such as this:
