Politics: Louis Mussington wants to break "with old practices"

0

In accordance with the general code of local authorities, the twenty-three elected members of the territorial council had to create committees of elected officials and appoint their members. Louis Mussington wanted the establishment of twelve thematic commissions which will be responsible for “preparing and studying the draft deliberations” to be submitted to the territorial council, or even to the executive council.

Wanting to “break with old practices and this in the general interest of the territory”, the new president of the COM opened commissions to the opposition, which was not the case until then. He therefore had to submit to his colleagues the modification of the number of members per committee, bringing it to eight. Five seats will be reserved for those elected from the majority RSMA (Rassemblement Saint-Martinois Alternative), two for those of Team Gibbs and one for Generation Hope.

By this political decision, Louis Mussington intends to show his “willingness to bring together and make use of all the skills present within our assembly”. He went further in "his spirit of openness" by proposing the presidency of the town planning, land and 50 geometric steps commission to Jules Charville, an adviser involved for many years in the 50 geometric steps file.

During the plenary session last Friday, the elected representatives unanimously validated the establishment of these commissions and their composition. The chairmanship and vice-chairmanship were suggested by Louis Mussington
