POLICY: Elected officials vote the 2018 budget

0

The president of the Collectivity today presents the first budget drawn up by his team. Last year, the newly elected members of the territorial council voted the budget for 2017, which had been drawn up by the outgoing majority.

In a few days, Team Gibbs had made changes to it to finance actions promised during the campaign; the leader then bet on that of 2018 to really start his big projects for the territory. But that was without counting the devastating passage of Irma.

Daniel Gibbs is thus forced to set aside his ambitions to rebuild the territory. And one of the priorities will be the rehabilitation of public lighting, schools and the construction of a new school.

He also wants to help the most vulnerable populations - especially those who were not insured - by helping them to put back a roof. Subsidies for disaster-stricken businesses will also be released. Other measures to be financed which were not foreseen, the bringing into conformity of the hurricane shelters destroyed by Irma and the development of means of warning and communication in the event of major risks, ie 1,85 million euros.
