POLITICS: J.-F. Carenco will come later to Saint-Martin

Jean-François Carenco, the Minister Delegate for Overseas Territories, arrived in Martinique on Tuesday evening. He spends 24 hours there and takes off this evening for Guadeloupe from where he will leave Thursday early evening for Paris. In particular, he must meet with local elected officials, employer organizations, trade unions representing artists, the regional fisheries committee and the transport federation. In the two islands, Jean-François Carenco must also meet with the members of the price, margin and income observatories.

This first official trip to the West Indies – the second since the appointment of the new government – does not provide for a passage through Saint-Martin. It is a lightning visit assumed according to the communication department of the minister who had made a point of honor to come to Martinique and Guadeloupe before August.

For the moment, no trip is scheduled in Saint-Martin; the minister wishes to come as soon as possible. However, he already spoke at the beginning of July in Paris with the president of the COM. Louis Mussington had mentioned several subjects such as the return of Saint-Martin teachers as part of a request for derogatory measures or the need to support a housing policy in Saint-Martin.
