The latest figures of the epidemiological situation have been communicated by the health authorities

The epidemiological situation for Saint-Martin seems to be stabilizing, although it should be noted that it is at a high level given the number of cases and the number of hospitalizations. For Saint-Barthélemy, the health situation has improved this week, but still remains to be monitored with a large number of active cases. We must remain mobilized in the fight against COVID, especially since the situation is still tense in mainland France and in the other French territories of the Caribbean.

SAINT-MARTIN :

For the week of August 9 to 15, 2021 (week 32, data as of August 15), there are 251 new cases in the territory of Saint-Martin, figure still slightly increasing this week since 236 new cases were identified in week 31, knowing that the number of tests is still at a high level with more than 3 carried out over the week. 201 new positive cases were recorded at the same time by Public Health France (SPF). Taking into account the consolidated data from the previous weeks, this brings to 3 the number of cumulative cases of coronavirus confirmed in the territory (SI-DEP SPF data). It is to highlight that since 16/08/2021, 79 new cases of COVID have been recorded out of 1 analyzes carried out, confirming a strong circulation of the virus on the territory.

HOSPITALIZED AND DECEASED

The CH Louis-Constant Fleming and the CH de Bruyn are very strongly involved in the management of the crisis. As of August 18, 25 confirmed COVID patients are hospitalized at the LCF hospital center, 3 confirmed COVID patients are hospitalized at Bruyn hospital center. During week 32, there was no medical evacuation of a confirmed COVID patient to the Guadeloupe hospital center. 1 Source SPF includes in its figures people with a main residence in Saint-Martin and tested both in France and on the island.

In addition, we deplore 2 new deaths during week 32. Since the start of the health crisis 44 residents of the Northern Islands have died.

MONITORING OF INDICATORS

The ARS vigilantly monitors the indicators set up for the monitoring of deconfinement:

In Saint-Martin, Epidemiological indicators continue to deteriorate sharply this week again, vigilance is more than ever in order. According to SI - DEP ARS data, the incidence rate continues to be high this week, and is well above the alert threshold, standing at 705/100 000 this week 32 against 660,2 / 100 in week 000.

THE TESTS

In Saint-Martin: 2 additional tests were performed in week 212 (PCR and antigens), for a total of 52 tests recorded 859 additional tests were performed in week 3 according to SI-DEP ARS data.

NEWS POINTS:

The drive installed in Marigot (behind the Mac Donald) is open Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., it primarily tests contact cases as well as people needing to be hospitalized.

The health situation in Guadeloupe forces the Institut Pasteur to reduce its capacity to take PCR tests for Saint-Martin to 90 per day. Travelers are therefore advised to prioritize antigenic testing; in addition, it is to take into account the time of return of the results which is at least 36 hours.

Due to the end of free PCR tests for foreigners (decree of July 6), the Marigot drive can no longer accept people without a Carte Vitale, the latter are thus called upon to get closer to BPA.

The BPA laboratory performs PCR tests by appointment at its Hope Estate drive, it tests in priority contact cases and people needing hospitalization. On Saturdays, the Bio Pôle Antilles (BPA) laboratory is accessible for PCR samples (around 60), by appointment only.

People wishing to access an antigen test are invited to contact pharmacies in the territory.

As a reminder, antigenic tests are particularly interesting for people called upon to travel, both internationally and on regional flights (results in less than 20 minutes for a result valid for 48 hours).

VACCINATION Saint Martin

Vaccination continues in Saint-Martin and concerns people of all ages. The vaccination center of the Louis Constant Fleming hospital receives by appointment, people wishing to be vaccinated are invited to make their appointment online via the site health.fr or directly on https://www.doctolib.fr, they can also call the RIPOSTE cell. The vaccine used is Pfizer BioNtech (messenger RNA)

As of August 17, 11 people have received their first injection and 215 people have received their second injection (vaccination having started on January 13). 32,92% of the population of Saint-Martin received at least one dose vaccine since last January. It should be noted that according to the old calculation criteria (population aged over 18), the vaccination coverage rate is 41,86%.

For information, the acquisition of immunity during the vaccination schedule consisting of 2 injections 3 to 12 weeks apart depending on the vaccine is done gradually. It does not start to be effective until two weeks after the first injection. Protection continues to increase over the weeks. Finally, one to two weeks after the second dose, vaccine efficacy is reached. It is therefore essential not to relax our vigilance, in particular by respecting barrier gestures throughout the duration of the vaccination schedule. It is still also necessary to speed up vaccination in order to protect the most vulnerable but also to create collective immunity on the island.

VACCINATION Saint-Barth:

As of August 17 (inclusive), 5 people have received their first injection and 987 people have received their second injection.
