Over 70000 confirmed cases of covid-19 in the Caribbean

The Caribbean (27 islands) has 70021 confirmed cases of covid-19. Five islands concentrate 97,6% of the cases: the Dominican Republic with 47 cases, Puerto Rico with 671 cases, Haiti with 10574 cases, Cuba with 6902 cases and Jamaica with 2438 cases.

The Dominican Republic, the third most populous island after Cuba and Haiti, accounts for 68% of confirmed cases in the Caribbean; Puerto Rico fourth most populous territory, 15% of cases.

Two islands (Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico) have recorded more than 10000 cases to date, two others more than 1 (Haiti and Cuba), eight more than 000 (Jamaica, Martinique, US Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Guadeloupe, Trinidad , Aruba and Barbados).

With 79 confirmed cases, Sint Maarten is the 13th most affected territory, Saint-Martin the 16th with 43 cases.

Anguilla, which has only recorded 3 cases, is the least affected island in the Caribbean. (soualigapost.com)
