Magali Crecel, aka MAGiali, is a painter of Martinican origin whose colorful canvases full of life and emotions are exhibited at 978 Sanctorum in Rambaud.
A trained nurse, MAGiali lived for more than 30 years in the Paris region and then settled on the wonderful island of Saint-Martin after the birth of her daughter: “The light of this island took my heart and it is quite naturally that I wanted to paint.” In 2021, this woman, passionate about art, drawing and painting, decided to pick up the brush which, since then, has accompanied her every day: “There is not a day that goes by without me painting”. Completely self-taught, MAGiali lets his emotions speak and naturally manages to transmit them in his authentic works. Admirer of great names in painting like Klimt, Le Douanier Rousseau, Modigliani and Dali, the local artist admits to having a weakness for figurative art: “I construct my works more like a film than like a drawing, and I like outbid on color.” This opulence of pigments has become the trademark of MAGiali, like a signature for a reassuring and happy world. It is also always in a joyful spirit that the painter works: “My goal is to create magic and to share this magic with my peers”. To taste a little of this happiness, the exhibition ''Over the course of encounters, the colors will remain'' consisting mainly of portraits is visible until July 31, 2024 at 978 Sanctorum. The artist would like to thank Angèle Dormoy and her husband for this spotlight. _Vx
