Last Thursday was held at the Lycée Robert Weinum the day of "Women's Engineering Sciences". A look back at this encouraging initiative for young female students.
It was in the multipurpose room that two groups of sixty young students took their places to attend the various presentations intended for high school and college students on the promotion of scientific and technological courses for women. The 120 students from the first technology classes, first in digital specialty and computer science as well as the third classes of the Mont des Accors college, the Soualiga college and finally the Quartier d'Orléans college, were attentive and interested by the story of the speakers. The sponsor of the operation was Sabrina Placidoux, territorial engineer and director of regional planning and urban planning at the Collectivité of Saint-Martin. Through her story, this godmother of choice succeeded in transmitting to the girls composing the assembly her passion for her profession, her determination and her deep faith that women have a preponderant place in the scientific field. This type of event makes it possible to discover the field of possibilities without restriction linked to territory, gender or origins. The following interventions were also significant, several teachers, namely Mrs. Atam (Mathematics), Mrs. Louisy (Mathematics), Mrs. Michon (Biology) and Mrs. Humpherry's (Physics), told their respective backgrounds with the common point of being all engineers training and high school teachers. The young audience listened, focused, to their anecdotes, how they became engineers through their school curriculum and why they chose the path of teaching. The principal of Lycée Robert Weinum, Olivier Saunier, was proud and supportive of this initiative, meticulously organized for the second time by Mrs. Marthe Ogoundélé-Tessi (DDPFT within the school). It is always good to remind the feminine and promising youth of Saint Martin that the diversity of courses is possible._VX
