Opening of the music festival: The music festival inaugurated by the schools of the island

0

A total of ten schools, from primary to college, were represented yesterday morning on the seafront scene to launch the festivities of the music festival.

This year, the Collectivity, which had already given way to schools on the island, decided to co-organize this scene. In close partnership with Mrs. Evelyne Fleming, project manager for the representative of the rector, the administration of the establishments and the teachers, the cultural service of the Collectivity honored the children of the island. Schools presented their choirs, solos, dancers and even a fanfare earlier!

When questioned, Charles-Henri Palvair, director of youth, sports, culture and community life, told us he wanted to get closer to what is done elsewhere for the music festival. Namely, a moment when amateur and professional artists meet on stage, in the street, in front of restaurants or in parking lots to simply celebrate the pleasure of being together through the same passion for music. According to him, "it would be necessary to federate the various groups to be (more) effective" in the support provided "but it should not be up to the Collectivity to lead that". “Its role is to facilitate and support” the procedures by providing technical, logistical, administrative resources, etc.

Yesterday morning, despite a too limited influx, the children of Saint Martin were in the spotlight and showed us their desire, their energy, their creativity. Unanimously, we reserve a special mention for the brass band of the college of Quartier d'Orléans which literally ignited the seafront.

Let's bet on a more ambitious edition next year.

Who knows, maybe one day, we will see an “inter-island” meeting flourish. _NB
