Clean Island operation Friendly Island - Clean Island: all in solidarity!

The President, Daniel Gibbs and his team had made the electoral promise: a large clean island operation will be launched over two weekends, July 1 and 2, from 7 a.m. to 13 p.m., and July 8 and 9, under the slogan "Saint-Martin Friendly Island - Clean Island".

This gesture for the environment and respect for the territory, the community of Saint-Martin wishes it collective and united and invites the entire population to participate. The objective is to carry out a major cleaning in preparation for the cyclone season and make Saint-Martin an eco-friendly destination.

This beginning of July was chosen by the Sustainable Development pole and its vice-president, Mr. Steven Patrick, to give this great clean up to our Friendly Island, with 4 half-days of action.

The population is thus invited to join elected officials and staff of the community to clean private properties while the community will continue the work of cleaning on the public domain with all the people who wish to join the system. Businesses and neighborhood associations are invited to participate in this collective effort, by helping out in cleaning up the public domain. The community will make skips for waste and bulky items available to residents in each neighborhood.

In order to respect the gestures of selective sorting, it is recommended to carry out a selective collection and deposit of waste in the bins provided for this purpose. These gestures are important, because they will allow the staff of the Grandes Cayes ecosite to process waste in a reasoned manner and, if necessary, integrate it into a recycling process.

At the same time, the local authority launched its ELV operation to remove the carcasses of a user vehicle, entirely free of charge for all those who would like to make themselves known to the staff of the local authority who will be in the field, or directly to the department in charge, contacting 0590 52 27 30. The removal of car carcasses and large bulky items will be carried out during the week at the request of local residents.

President Daniel Gibbs and his 4evice-president Steven Patrick launch a civic appeal to all our fellow citizens for an active participation in this collective cleaning program, the weekend of July 1 and 2 for neighborhoods 1, 2 and 3 and the week - end of July 8 and 9 for wards 4, 5 and 6.

The Collectivité de Saint-Martin - Direction de l'Environnement et du Cadre de vie - invites you to use the devices that will be made available to collect as much waste as possible between July 1 and July 9, 2017, and thanks you in advance your involvement in respecting our environment and our living environment.
