Pink October: mobilization against breast cancer kicks off

0

As you know, this month is dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. Many awareness events will be organized around the world, including in Saint-Martin. As part of the launch of "Pink October 2015", Minister of Health Marisol Touraine announced excellent news last Tuesday.

For the screening of women presenting a “high risk”, Marisol Touraine indicated that the reimbursement of examinations will be covered 100% in 2016. Until now, it is women between 50 and 74 years who could benefit from mammography reimbursed in full every two years as part of organized screening. The Minister also announced that a consultation on breast cancer screening would be opened on the website: www.concertation-depistage.fr. In Saint-Martin, as every year, the Soroptimist club will set up events to raise awareness and prevent breast cancer. Tomorrow, members will organize the traditional pose of the pink scarf at 18 p.m. on the Lady of Liberty statue, located at the Agrément roundabout. A walk from the Galisbay car park to the roundabout will take place just before this ceremony. The public is invited to participate, if possible wearing pink. Breast cancer is the deadliest cancer in women in France, says the National Cancer Institute. If it is detected early, it can be cured in 9 out of 10 cases.
