Doctor Louis Jeffry, president of the association of the Observatory of the Health of Saint-Martin, indicates that the phase of recruitment of the investigators is now finished. Interviews can finally begin in the territory.

“Sixty investigators trained at the University of Sint Maarten are expected in the field as part of the first survey entitled“ What is the state of health of the population of Saint Martin ”from the Health Observatory, officially launched in August 2014 ”, explains Louis Jeffry. The investigation is expected to be completed by the end of next month. “It was imperative to create this Observatory. This will make it possible to enter into a statistical logic necessary for the territory, to see the emergence of partnerships, and also to facilitate collaboration with certain institutional actors for example the INSEE and other observatories like that of Guadeloupe ”, adds M. Jeffry.

The Collectivity recalls that “the Saint-Martin Health Observatory was born from a cooperation project between the Collectivity, the government of Sint Maarten and the Louis Constant Fleming Hospital, financed by the envelope of European funds Interreg Caribbean IV 2007-2013 ”. The general assembly at the beginning of the month made it possible to “formalize the functioning of the association which governs the observatory”. On this occasion, Louis Jeffry held an extraordinary general meeting in the presence in particular of the vice-president of the COM in charge of the Solidarity and Families pole Ramona Connor, the Minister of Health of Sint Maarten Rita Bourne-Gumbs and the director of the regional delegation of the ARS of the Northern Islands Pascal Godefroy.
