Following the Council of Ministers of January 11, 2023 and by decree of the President of the Republic, Xavier Lefort, 58, was appointed new prefect of Guadeloupe. He was previously prefect of Mayenne. He will replace Alexandre Rochatte on January 30.
The Minister Delegate for Overseas Jean-François Carenco wishes to thank Alexandre Rochatte in particular, and to salute his action as Prefect of the Guadeloupe region, Prefect of Guadeloupe and representative of the State in the communities of Saint-Barthélemy and of Saint Martin.
Its passage through this region will have been marked by many highlights, such as the Covid-19 health crisis, multiple public order events, or even the management of storm Fiona and its consequences…. Challenges that he was able to meet with the strength of his convictions.
Xavier Lefort now succeeds him as Prefect of Guadeloupe. Previously prefect of Mayenne, he was able to demonstrate his full mastery of the subjects of water resource management, or even energy supply. His methods demonstrate an attachment to cooperation with local authorities: Minister Jean-François Carenco has no doubts about his full success in his new missions in Guadeloupe.
Note that Alexandre Rochatte was appointed prefect of the Loire. He replaces Catherine Seguin appointed prefect of the Oise. _AF
