The nautical club of Saint Martin, by responding to a call for projects from the Youth and Sports Department, is setting up the Discovery of Outdoor Activities (DAPA) project for Saint-Martin children aged 7 to 14 years . This system responds to the national commitment to “guarantee the fundamental rights of children on a daily basis through access to sport without high entry fees standing in the way”.

The nautical club will distribute to 200 children whose parents have low incomes and who live in political districts of the City, a booklet of 10 outdoor activity vouchers with a total value of 200 euros (10 euros per voucher ).

It was supported by the National Education and the various schools of the island to constitute the list of beneficiaries and disseminate information to children and families.

"Based on the observation that 80% of children do not master" knowing how to swim ", we have decided to set up a first activity of" Discovery of the Sea "for all children benefiting from the DAPA, which will begin during the Christmas holidays. This activity is organized by the AFPS, which will collect the first DAPA voucher from each book. Groups of children were formed according to their place of residence, and transport is taken care of by the CNSM, ”explains the nautical club.

In groups of 10, the children will get into the water under the supervision of a lifeguard and two BNSSAs, in order to observe their behavior in front of the sea, to learn to put on a life jacket, learn to float on their backs or grab a submerged object that is at their feet.

Once this first activity has been completed, children will be able to use their other vouchers from a list of activity providers with whom the club has signed agreements. Children can for example practice surfing, windsurfing, sailing and any land activity recognized by the youth and sport management (rugby, tennis, football, basketball, boxing, etc.). Four sessions during each school holiday period will be organized for the practice of activities.
