NATURE: Humpback whales are back

Since the beginning of the week, some lucky people have been able to observe humpback whales. Monday morning "at 9:20 am, passengers on Voyager 3 had the privilege of seeing the first whale of the 2019 season near the island of Tintamare", can be read on the shipping company's Facebook page.  

Each winter, the humpback whales come to reproduce in our waters, more precisely in the plateau formed by the islands of Saint-Martin, Anguilla and Saint-Barthélemy.

To observe whales, certain rules must therefore be observed. "In the waters of the Nature Reserve, you must comply with the regulations and go through an operator member of a partner company, the only commercial operators authorized to work in reserve" specifies Julien Chalifour, head of the "Scientific missions and monitoring" division at the Saint-Martin Nature Reserve.
