NARCOTRAFIC: More than a ton of narcotics seized off Guadeloupe

0

A week before Christmas Eve, the sailors embarked on the building "Le Ventôse" intercepted off Guadeloupe more than a ton of narcotics from Colombia.

On December 16, 2022 during the second part of the night, the French Navy's "Ventôse" surveillance frigate intervened on a fishing vessel on the high seas west of Guadeloupe. The ship, with no visible mark of nationality, followed an erratic course and did not respond to radio interrogations. When approaching the “Ventôse”, the ship's crew carried out about ten rejections at sea. The cargo thrown overboard sank before it could be recovered.

This circumstantial operation, carried out by the Armed Forces in the West Indies on the basis of information provided by the Colombian authorities, made it possible to prevent the shipment of narcotics, estimated at more than one ton, from feeding the traffic in the Caribbean islands, in particular the French West Indies, and by rebound France and Europe.

This type of operation to fight drug trafficking, organized unexpectedly, completes the operations planned interdepartmentally and carried out in our approaches.

In 2022, the Armed Forces in the West Indies made 9 seizures, which represented more than 5 tons of narcotics intercepted.

In 2023, the fight against the trafficking of illicit products will continue with the same determination in order to combat criminal networks and protect the French people. _AF
