Mosquitoes: the departments where they represent a threat to health are not the same where it is necessary to fight against the diseases they transmit

On December 16, 1964 was published in the official journal of the Republic the law relating to the fight against mosquitoes applicable in mainland and overseas. Then several interministerial orders were issued to fix "the list of departments where mosquitoes constitute a threat to the health of the population". According to the last one dated November 26, 2018, forty-nine departments are concerned.

At the same time, another decree was issued in April 1987 concerning "the fight against human diseases transmitted by insects". It also presents a list of relevant departments, namely Haute-Corse, Corse-du-Sud, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique and Réunion.

But curiously, these departments where a fight against the diseases transmitted by the insects must be carried out, do not appear in the list of the other decree.

The deputy of Reunion, Ericka Bareigts, challenged the Minister of Health on the difference between these two arrested via a written question to the National Assembly. It also asked what were the financial means allocated by the State for the application of these two orders. No answer has yet been provided.
