Personal microcredit: a device to better support families


Yesterday morning, the signing of an agreement on personal microcredit between the Collectivity, the Postal Bank and the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, at the Hôtel de la Collectivité. Saint-Martin residents will now be able to benefit from this system, the objective of which is to combat social exclusion.

This system - adopted at the Executive Council of December 1, 2015 - will thus reduce inequalities in the territory. “The file will be put together by a social worker and then transmitted to the Postal Bank, which will decide whether or not to grant the microcredit. We have a partnership with the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations which will guarantee this loan, ”explains Evelyne Ratchel-Jacob, director of social inclusion at the solidarity and family pole. The role of the Community is therefore to support these families, to make them responsible, and not to assist them, according to Ms. Connor. “People will be able to borrow between 300 and 3000 euros, adds Richard Curnier, regional director for Antilles-Guyana of the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, who participated in the start of this project up to 10.000 euros to structure, but also to put together the files. The Postal Bank is the only banking establishment which played the game in Saint-Martin within the framework of this convention. “We have many missions, including supporting fragile and vulnerable customers. Today, this signature is the translation of what we do on a daily basis in our establishments, ”says Michèle Paolini, regional director of La Poste in Guadeloupe, who on this occasion introduced Cathy Roesch, the new director of the La Poste offices.
