0

Jerry was classified as a Category 1 hurricane by the National Hurricane Center yesterday at noon. It travels at a speed of 26 km / h with winds blowing up to 120 km / h.

However, its trajectory remains unchanged and the Northern Islands will be 150 km from the passage of Jerry. The biggest effect will occur overnight Friday to Saturday with heavy rain expected.

Winds will be between 60 km / h and 80 km / h. It should be noted that the wind direction will change throughout the event and this until Saturday morning.

The state of the sea will gradually deteriorate and the most unfavorable conditions are expected overnight from Friday to Saturday. Surges on the coast are expected with an energetic north-northwest swell with hollows of up to 2 to 50 meters.

Given these elements, the Prefecture of Saint Barthélemy and Saint Martin maintains cyclone yellow vigilance and reminds everyone of the need to anticipate and prepare for any meteorological phenomenon. The procedures to be followed according to vigilance and the preparation of the emergency kit are available on the Prefecture website:

The Prefecture services are closely monitoring the development of this phenomenon. Stay tuned for official messages and do not spread false information. _AF
