Several leaders of associations honored
Six leaders from the sports and cultural world have received the volunteer medal for their dedication for many years within their respective associations. 
The Prefect, Anne Laubies specified that "the State and the Communities have for years entrusted public service missions to associations, which thus facilitate access to sport, culture or even health".
Were awarded the volunteer medal: Philippe Arrendell, French boxing champion in 1982, for 25 years dedicated to boxing; Bernadine Arnell, for 45 years dedicated to neighborhood animation and youth since the creation of the Maison du Père Noël; Rigobert Benjamin, for 25 years of volunteering in sport, football and cycling; Georgina Rohan, for 18 years of service to youth and culture in Quartier d'Orléans and the creation of the association Les Explorateurs in 1995; Roseann Rumnit, founding member of the Saint-Martin Nature Reserve, involved in the environment, heritage and agriculture since 1995; Saint Elmo Arnell, for 37 years of sports volunteering in cycling and football.
