The crews of the 10th edition of Voiles de St. Barth Richard Mille got into the heart of the matter last Monday.

Taking advantage of a trade wind regime blowing between 15 and 20 knots, they made a first race for the less tactical on the west side of the island (a 24-mile loop for CSA 3, 4 and 5, a course of 29 miles for CSA 1 and 2 then round of 36 miles for Maxi 1 and 2 then Multihull 1 and 2), playing with the little flip flops, the grains and the side effects. In this little game, some were obviously more comfortable than others, but the action was indeed there in each of the nine classes, setting the tone for the week ahead thrilling!
The weather forecast was favorable for this first day of competition. She kept all her promises with an easterly flow blowing between 15 and 20 knots, thus offering the crews in the running an almost ideal first day of competition. "It was a great day, first because the conditions were very nice, then because the match was very close," explained Jean-Pierre Dick, the skipper of JP54 The Kid who notably fought well with the two Cookson 50 Triple Lindy and Joseph Mel and Kuka 3 of Franco Niggeler in the CSA 1 class. “The maneuvers were very important and the game was very open from start to finish. As far as we are concerned, we did pretty well with the forces on board. In particular, we avoided the full bulk and everyone gave themselves well so that it would turn out, "added the Niçois, double winner of the Barcelona World Race and quadruple winner of the Transat Jacques Vabre in IMOCA who (surprisingly) discovers for the first time the Saint-Barth body of water in regatta. “It's just fabulous. Today, we passed close to the Pointe à Colombier: a magnificent spectacle! Assured the navigator then joined by Chris Body, the owner of El Ocaso. "It is also my first time in Saint-Barth and it is undoubtedly the most special sailing experience of my life", assures the Briton who today took third place in the CSA 4 the end of a nice match with Liquid by Pamala Baldwin but also and above all Holding Pattern by Sir Richard Matthews, at the head and on board of which we find some sizes such as Andy Green or Saskia Green, member of the Grande team - Olympic sailing Britain.
