Last Friday, we could still see smoke emanating from Frigodom in the port of Galisbay. The fire started at dawn last Wednesday in the 16000 m3 building, which has now completely collapsed, is not completely extinguished. It was the morning teams who, when they took up their shift on Wednesday at six o'clock, noticed smoke on the side of the building.

"They immediately called the firefighters who arrived very quickly" reports Taî Ghzalale, the director of Frigodom. Most of the fire is now extinguished The prefecture's order has been lifted and residents of neighboring buildings who had to evacuate have been able to return to their homes.

As said the prefect Sylvie Feucher and the president of the COM Daniel Gibbs, Taî Ghzalale reminds that the population does not have to worry about the supply. “We are not in the situation according to Irma. The ports and airports are functioning and a large part of our customers have already organized themselves to ensure the continuity of their activity towards supermarkets and restaurants. ”

Frigodom, a subsidiary of the group deployed overseas, is a logistics platform for refrigerated storage. For the time being, it is still difficult to speak of the future. The director claims to have already started work with the insurance companies. In the meantime, Frigodom has temporarily installed its office in those of Computech. While waiting to know if the building dating from 2009 will be rebuilt, the company has started a procedure to allow the goods to arrive and keep them in their refrigerated containers until they are distributed. Regarding the 15 employees of the company, the management launched the procedure for partial unemployment. For the moment the administrative staff are at work in the temporary premises and the technical staff will, initially, be assigned to the cleaning and the evacuation of the food once they can access the building.
