The organizers of the Heineken Regatta are pleased to announce that a total of $ 41 was raised during the 900rd edition for local foundations. The raffle was used to drive the event's “green” initiatives, benefiting sustainability efforts for the island and various projects emanating from local foundations.

The Heineken St Maarten and Heineken regattas have worked in collaboration with the St Maarten Rotary Club, Rotary St Maarten-Mid Isle and Motorworld by selling raffle tickets to raise funds for a beach cleaning vehicle, an initiative launched l last year by Rotary.

Motorworld joined the 39rd edition of the Heineken Regatta as a new main sponsor, thus allowing a fully loaded Hyundai Creta to be able to be drawn. During regatta week this car, along with a selection of other popular brands, was on display in the Regatta Village and showcased the wide variety of cars available for sale on the island. This exhibition encouraged people to buy raffle tickets and have a chance to win the new Hyundai Creta, in support of the island's various environmental projects.

“We are proud to be partners in this great joint initiative of the Sint Maarten Yacht Club, the St Maarten Heineken Regatta and the Heineken company. By working together we have successfully organized another memorable and enjoyable regatta at St. Maarten Heineken. We congratulate the Rotary clubs and everyone for their involvement and of course the winner, Mr. Soons. With the promotions going on the new 2019 Hyundai Creta, everyone can be a winner. Visit our showroom and our dedicated sales team can help you find a solution, said Tariq Amjad, general manager of the Motorworld group of companies.

John Caputo, president of the Rotary Club of Saint-Martin, said for his part: “The island is now on the verge of having a machine to clean the beaches. That's wonderful ! The Rotary Clubs of St. Maarten are working diligently to make St. Maarten a better place to live or visit and we thank everyone who purchased a ticket to support this initiative. Even if you didn't win the car, you have helped keep our beaches untouched for decades ”.

Finally, Denise Antrobus, President of the Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle, added: “On behalf of the Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle, I would like to congratulate Mr. Soons on winning the raffle. Many thanks to Motorworld who sponsored the Hyundai Creta. It was wonderful to work with this partnership between the Heineken Regatta of St. Maarten and the Rotary Club of St. Martin. Can't wait to see the beach cleaner used in Saint-Martin! "
