The authors of false certificates to cross the border will be prosecuted

Since July 31 at noon, it is compulsory to present a certificate to cross the border from the Dutch side. The document is issued on request by the prefecture services.

The certificates that had been granted by the prefect during confinement are still valid as well as those called Form C issued by the police of Sint Maarten. The reasons for being authorized to enter the French part are limited to simple compelling reasons (professional-medical).

Controls are carried out by the border police at Belle Plaine and by the gendarmerie at Bellevue. At the other two points - Oyster Pond and Terres Basses / Cupecoy - containers have been placed in the middle of the road but they are bypassed by pedestrians.

During checks, the gendarmes and police were able to observe false certificates with the header either from the prefecture or from the Sint Maarten police. The individuals have been identified. "They will be placed in police custody," assured the prefect at a press conference Wednesday morning in the presence of Commander Stephan Basso. "People will be prosecuted for forgery and use of forgery," said Sylvie Feucher.
