SXM Festival offers coconut palms at Sandy Ground Beach

Friday December 7, students from three CM1 classes at Aline Hanson School symbolically planted coconut palms on the beach at Sandy Ground. "The trees will grow at the same time as the children," commented the rector Mostafa Fourar while visiting the island. The objective is to involve them in the beautification of the island after the passage of Irma.

"We chose these students because residing in Sandy Ground, they are the most likely to come back to benefit from them and also because one of these classes works on the environment" commented Michel Sanz, IA-DAASEN of the islands of North.

This operation, which involves planting 150 coconut trees from Miami on the public beach in front of Leyla's restaurant, was funded by the SXM Festival. The patrons were represented by Baki, manager of the Mercure and father of the founder of the festival.

This is the second action of the SXM Festival in favor of education in Saint-Martin. The SXM festival association received donations after Irma to help rebuild Saint-Martin. A few months ago, she gave a check for 15 euros to the rector to buy sports equipment for the students.
