Sargassum - which gave us a short break - are again present on certain beaches. And these unwanted algae strandings are far from over, according to the state services which met last week during a steering committee.
“Sargassum layers are detected in the Antilles area, near the island of Guadeloupe, about 70 km southeast of Marie-Galante and 120 km east of Guadeloupe. This is the first significant detection of sargassum since the start of the year. All the elements of analysis indicate that strandings will probably occur in the coming weeks, ”said the prefecture, adding that the green brigades are already on the warpath. _EH
