President Gibbs Meets National Director, PJJ

The President of the community of Saint-Martin, Daniel Gibbs, received last Friday, the national director of the Judicial Protection of Youth (PJJ), Madeleine Mathieu, currently traveling in our islands. She was accompanied by Dominique Simon, interregional director of the PJJ IDF- overseas. 

During this trip to the Antilles, Mr. Mathieu inaugurated the Educational Placement and Integration Establishment of Guadeloupe (EPEI) located in the Lamentin district. She then went to Saint-Martin, where her meeting with President Gibbs allowed her to better understand the reality of the territory after the passage of Hurricane IRMA, and to discuss the projects to be implemented locally for improve prevention and promote the integration of young offenders.

The strengthening of existing measures in the territory, and in particular the training of technicians capable of carrying out this monitoring, were mentioned, as well as the implementation of targeted actions for the integration of these young audiences. The creation of the socio-educational home, a long-term project of the community, was also discussed and seen as a necessity.

For President Gibbs, the prevention of delinquency must be accentuated on the territory of the community, and all the levers of integration activities, for an optimal care of these young people in difficulty.
