The Prefect announces the implementation of several measures aimed at the Sandy-Ground and Quartier d'Orléans districts

In the context of the social movement experienced by the Sandy-Ground and Quartier d'Orléans neighborhoods and as an extension of the many contacts he may have had, the Prefect reiterates that road blockades and the practice of racketeering are inadmissible and that they damage the image of the island, its attractiveness but above all to all the inhabitants.

Sensitive to concerns, the Prefect announces the implementation of the following measures which constitute commitments, and this for some, from next week, namely:

1. Installation of a working group in Quartier d'Orléans and Sandy-Ground bringing together parliamentarians, elected officials, State and Community services, representatives of associations, representatives of neighborhood councils, representatives of young people, socio-professionals and all those who want to get involved in the neighborhood within the framework of city policy;

2. Installation of a permanence of the National Gendarmerie in Quartier d'Orléans, pending the transfer of the gendarmerie brigade from Hope Estate to this same district, the Director General of the National Gendarmerie having validated this operation;

3. Installation of a territorial postal agency near the office of the public services of Quartier d'Orléans in relation to the community.

4. Installation as of next week of a reception and guidance system for young people, in particular towards employment and training: - in the Orleans district on Thursday from 9 am to 13 pm at the MSAP - parking lot at the Thelbert Carti stadium; - at Sandy Ground on Tuesday from 14 p.m. to 16 p.m. at the Maison des Services Publics (MSAP).

5. Establishment of a Local Security and Crime Prevention Council (CLSPD) by the end of 2021 in agreement with the Public Prosecutor;

6. Reinforced funding for prevention and assistance actions for children. The State is contributing € 663 to this objective for the implementation of 600 actions, which will focus in particular on primary prevention with the aim of reducing social and health inequalities from early childhood, monitoring the health of young children , the care of children with disabilities, the accompaniment and support of families, the care of young adults, the training of childcare professionals. These resources will mainly benefit the neighborhoods of Quartier d'Orléans and Sandy-Ground.

7. Appointment and arrival from January 1, 2022 of a project director (equivalent to a post of director of territories and the sea) in particular in charge of the urban renewal of the political districts of the City of Sandy-Ground and Quartier d ' Orleans.

A monthly report will be made by the State, elected officials of the community and neighborhood councils on the progress of projects, the result of measures taken as on the employment situation.
