The Manioukani group will build a clinic in Saint-Martin

Its opening is scheduled for the third quarter of 2022; the private Wataki clinic is an ambitious project led by the Manioukani group, the founders of which are doctors Corinne and Pierre Sainte-Luce.

The Wataki clinic will be a post-treatment and rehabilitation center (SRH). It will welcome patients who require care after an operation or a disability. After their hospitalization, patients can be referred to the clinic. The care is covered by Social Security and / or mutual funds. "We are contracted with the CGSS and authorized by the regional health agency," says Pierre Sainte-Luce.

“The first step in the construction” of the clinic was taken yesterday: it consisted of the signing of the deed of sale for the land on which it will be located. Located in Concordia, just above the hospital center, the land was ceded to the Manioukani group by Semsamar. Work is scheduled to start in the third quarter of this year and last for two years.

The clinic will include two care units: 20 places for follow-up and rehabilitation care in day hospitals and 30 beds for follow-up care and rehabilitation in full hospitalization.

About a hundred direct jobs (nurses, physiotherapist, accountant, social worker, occupational therapist, specialized educator, etc.) will be created. Contacts have already been made with Pôle Emploi to train people.

The total cost of the project is estimated between 10 and 12 million euros.

The Manioukani group opened in Saint-Martin in December 2019 a day care unit employing 3 rehabilitators and a doctor in premises rented from Semsamar near the hospital.

Why the name Wataki?

Pierre Sainte-Luce is passionate about art and heritage. His group acquired the Fidelin pottery in Terre de Bas and the Fonds Rousseau dwelling in Schoelcher. He wanted to baptize each of his establishments with an Amerindian name: Manioukani in Gourbeyre, Kanala in Bouillante, Wataki in Saint-Martin. Wataki is the name given by the Amerindian people in Guyana Wayana to the primary tree Geissospermum argenteum Woodson. (soualigapost.com)
