One thing is certain: the Cul-de-Sac school – if it has to be – will not be rebuilt on the land where it was; the plots are now properties of the Conservatoire du Littoral.
The conservatory has in fact recently purchased several plots of land on Cul-de-Sac which belonged to the M brothers, which they had inherited from their father who died in the 1980s. new path in Grandes Cayes, but also plots AV 61 and AV 62 on which the Cul de Sac school had been built by mistake.
At the beginning of the 2000s, the municipality which had wished to open a school in the north of the island, had not carried out the construction site on its land but on that of the side, that of a private person. The case was taken to court in 2005 by the owners, the M brothers. Several trials have taken place and decisions have always been made in favor of the owners, the last in 2018. In the meantime, the school was destroyed by Irma and the COM applied the court decision and returned the land after cleaning it up. Since then, the two brothers have sold these two plots to the conservatory.
