With the passage of Hurricane Irma, the post office located in Quartier d'Orléans was damaged and has been closed ever since. In 2019, the management of La Poste told us that “the premises had been renovated but that they could not reopen for technical problems”.
Asked again last week on the same subject, La Poste confides that these problems could not be resolved, so it cannot yet ensure a presence in this part of the territory. "A presence in Quartier is necessary," recognizes however the new sector director (bank-network) Anthony Veron. Arrived in Saint-Martin last January, this is one of the first observations that he was able to draw up. “Neighborhood residents must travel to carry out daily operations such as withdrawing money,” he agrees.
For several months, La Poste's management teams have been thinking about the best location. Two avenues are favored and discussed with the Collectivity and the prefecture. But La Poste does not yet wish to detail them.
In the meantime, Anthony Veron has rearranged customer reception at the Marigot branch, in particular at the post office counters. “We have strengthened the reception with two additional agents promoted internally. So now we have four advisers, which allows us to get appointments faster, ”he says. (soualigapost.com)
