France designated to host the World Cup in 2023!

From the Metropolis and also in Saint-Martin (new nod to the leaders of the Archiball and the Saint-Martin Rugby Union), lovers of the oval ball have a smile! And for good reason, France will indeed organize the Rugby World Cup in 2023!

For the moment, everything seems to smile to France in terms of sport! While France will host the Women's Football World Cup in 2019, and Paris will organize the Summer Olympic Games in 2024, we learned that France will also be the host country for the Rugby World Cup in 2023. The France has indeed surpassed South Africa and Ireland, also candidates. Who would have believed it ?

A relief for rugby enthusiasts and especially for the president of the French Rugby Federation (FFR), Bernard Laporte.

And yet, things were far from won since South Africa had indeed been recommended by World Rugby and its president, the Englishman Bill Beaumont.

But fate has decided otherwise. During the vote, South Africa was defeated in the second ballot, obtaining 15 votes to 24 for France. Note that in the first round, France had collected 18 votes against 13 for South Africa and 8 for Ireland

Remember that France has already organized the Rugby World Cup. It was in 2007. At the time, South Africa had won the coveted cup at the Stade de France.

We therefore hope that the XV of France will take its revenge in ... 2023. The appointment is already made! _AF
