The Fondation de France will continue to help St Martin

After a week of official visit to the territory, the three representatives of the Fondation de France were proud and satisfied with the work carried out with the desire to continue to improve the living conditions of the population of Saint Martin.

With their “Solidarité Antilles” program deployed in 2017 following the passage of Hurricane Irma, the Fondation de France (FDF) has been a key player in its recovery. Karine Meaux, head of the International Solidarity and Emergencies Department at the Fondation de France, Élodie Paillé, emergency project manager at the FDF and Jean-Louis Vielajus, volunteer at the FDF took stock of their extremely busy week on the island of Saint Martin. After more than four years of use of the 12 million euros in donations collected in the aftermath of Irma, the Fondation de France had to take stock with the various actors concerned to maintain this civic dynamic put in place since. The Fondation de France has certainly almost exhausted this exceptional emergency fund, but it has many other programs open to Saint Martin associations. It is not easy to consolidate a structure in the current context, which is why the FDF wishes to redouble its efforts so that the associations are supported in their activity and their evolutionary approach. A tool will also be specially designed soon in order to integrate the various programs offered by the FDF into the newsletters of the Collectivité and the Saint Martin Active Initiative (ISMA). Webinars will also be organized on various and varied themes, always with a view to supporting associations, whether they are dedicated to children and youth, sport and health or others, the will remains the same: to work together. Karine Meaux is delighted that a strong partnership has been established between the Fondation de France, the Collectivity, the Prefecture and the Saint Martin associations. This territorial dynamic is essential in the eyes of the FDF which, in the space of a week, has, among other things, inaugurated two new classrooms in a school in Quartier d'Orléans, visited construction sites with the Compagnons Bâtisseurs, whether in the reconstruction of framework-roofing or participatory work, financed by the FDF, has signed a support agreement for associations with the Collectivity or has supported the Nature Reserve in its new rehabilitation project, also co-financed by the FDF. Karine Meaux's greatest source of pride is having succeeded in creating sustainable relationships between Saint Martin actors and the FDF. _VX
