During a ceremony organized at the entrance to Orient Bay on Friday, December 21, Dauphin Telecom officially unveiled the first fiber-optic pooling point in Saint-Martin.

Friday morning, Dauphin Telecom proceeded to the inauguration of the Fiber Optic pooling point in the Orient Bay sector. Dauphin Telecom has been deploying its own Fiber Optics for several years now in Saint-Martin.

Eve Riboud, Managing Director of Dauphin Telecom, declared that the pooling point (PM) of the BO is "the first stone of our edifice" because there will be in all "13 PM which will be able to connect up to seven thousand sockets to Saint-Martin ". She adds that the cabinets will be the only visible parts since “everything else will be underground”. She wished to thank the Dauphin technical team as well as all their partners: "Antoine Transport, DORELEC, ECRE, EDF, EIFFAGE, GETELEC, GRC, MARTINEX, SODEDOM and XERIA, who are doing a tremendous job in the field", without forget the "Collectivity which has supported us enormously from a regulatory point of view". Ms. Riboud concluded her intervention by declaring that "the marketing of the fiber is estimated for the month of March 2019".

Philippe Morel, Commercial and Marketing Director, explains that the BO's pooling point is "poolable with other operators, which will allow them, if they wish, to interconnect on this point".
Mr. Morel recalls that fiber optics has "already been on the soundtrack for almost three years since hotel restaurants and shops are already connected in symmetrical flow (offer for professionals). Asymmetric flows for individuals will be very efficient since they will have a flow rate of up to 500 mega ”. He ends his intervention by informing us that "Dauphin has concluded a Building Agreement with the Orient Bay ASL", as required by the regulators, namely the ARSEP and the Collectivity, which will allow them to connect the customers home.

Ms. Riboud and Ms. Morel also said that Dauphin Telecom is recruiting and will focus on continuous training in Fiber Optics throughout 2019.

Mr. Yawo Nyuiadzi, second vice-president of the Community, was present to show his support for Dauphin Telecom on behalf of the president of the COM Daniel Gibbs who “would have been very proud to be there since we all know the role that to play Dauphin Telecom in the aftermath of cyclone Irma since they were the first to restore the lines of communication. ” He also declared "that there will be no economic development without basic infrastructures" and that, thanks to this point of mutualisation, "the inhabitants and professionals of the French part will be able to benefit from very high speed".

Five other sectors will be affected by the installation of the next mutualization points: Cul de Sac, Hope Estate, Grand Case, La Savane and Bellevue. During 2019, 13 Dauphin Telecom Fiber Optic pooling points will be operational, i.e. more than 7 homes according to a picket carried out by Dauphin.

At the end of the inauguration, refreshments were offered to participants at the La Plantation restaurant.
