At first instance, Cuchi had been sentenced to life in prison for having killed two men in a hotel room in Simpson Bay in December 2016. He had appealed and the court has just rendered its decision: it confirmed the prison to perpetuity.
As a reminder, Cuchi was sentenced in 2007 to 21 years in prison for murder and was imprisoned in Pointe Blanche prison. He fled in February 2016. He was finally arrested in August 2017 in St Kitts. During this period, he had committed a double murder for which he was sentenced to life imprisonment.
If Cuchi admitted the killings, he justified them by self-defense. During the first investigation, he had indicated that the two victims wanted to kill him.
During the appeal trial, the judges were not convinced by his explanations. They noted that he felt no remorse, regret or second thoughts after being convicted of committing three murders. The psychiatrist who examined him also considers that the risk of recurrence is high. This is why the Dutch Court of Appeal upheld the judgment at first instance. Cuchi who is imprisoned in Holland, has a period of fourteen days to be able to appeal. Her brother was sentenced to 24 years in prison.
