ML, a citizen of Sint Maarten, aged 47, has been imprisoned at the Basse-Terre remand center from September 2020 until next year. Last Thursday he saw his stay in prison extended by eight months after being convicted of violence committed with an iron bar by the local court of Saint-Martin before which he appeared by videoconference.
The alleged facts took place in August in 2020. The deputy prosecutor requested ten months in prison and a committal warrant. The court handed down an eight-month sentence and a committal warrant.
The victim and her friend were not present at the hearing because they are also imprisoned in Guadeloupe for other facts.
