A twenty-five-year-old young man born in Guadeloupe but living in Saint-Martin appeared Thursday before the local court of Saint-Martin for possession, illicit use and acquisition of narcotics.

On December 15, 2020, the garage where PC works is subject to an anti-fraud check by the authorities. The police discovered three glass jars containing 114 grams of cannabis in total. PC explains that the drug belongs to him. Two weeks earlier, he had bought 200 grams of it for his personal consumption.

"- I smoke between ten and fifteen joints a day… It's to de-stress me. I prefer to smoke than drink, he admits.

- But 10 joints a day is a lot! Have you tried something else to help you distress? Like playing sports ..., asks the court,

- Yes I tried sport…

- It did not work ?

- No, it didn't work ”.

The judges note that PC is in recidivism; in 2017, he was convicted of the same facts. “The pain has not prompted you to change your behavior,” they ask. “Yes… I have lowered my consumption since then,” says PC.

After deliberation, the court pronounced a sentence identical to the requisitions of the prosecution: six months in prison with a probationary suspension of 18 months including the obligation of care and work.  (soualigapost.com)
