The Pôle Relais Zones Humides Tropicales will celebrate International Mangrove Day this Wednesday, in partnership with the commune of Abymes, in Guadeloupe. The public will have the opportunity to take part in activities organized by the various partners, including the Conservatoire du littoral. The proclamation of this day was adopted on November 6, 2015 by the General Conference of UNESCO. "According to current estimates, up to 67% of the mangroves have already been destroyed and almost all of the unprotected mangroves could disappear in the next hundred years," said the organization. Note that the Cluster published this month a “special” letter on mangroves on its site, focusing on two projects: their mapping overseas and the establishment of an observation network. _EH
