Salaried employment in mainland France, including overseas departments (excluding Mayotte), increased by 0,4% in the first quarter of 2017, according to the latest figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies ( Insee). During this period, 89.700 jobs were created: 80.300 new positions in the private sector and 9.500 in the public service. In detail, the figures in construction are encouraging with 9.300 creations. Employment in this sector “has been declining almost continuously since 2008”, underlines the institute. In market services, employment remains “dynamic” with 71.600 new positions, despite “a slowdown in temporary work” with 17.000 creations. Regarding non-market services, there are 13.100. _EH
