Following declarations published in the media on the difficulties of enrolling in the school canteen encountered by certain parents, the Caisse Territoriale des Œuvres Scolaires (CTOS) recalls that enrollments for school meals and extracurricular activities were opened, from the beginning of July 2019, according to a precise calendar, by sector, to allow parents to carry out these steps well in advance.
Parents had two weeks (per sector) to complete their formalities. The list of documents to be supplied has been published on the Collectivity website www.com-saint-martin.fr early July, so that parents can have the required documents. This information has been widely reported by the media and CTOS.
If there are difficulties related to the processing of files, it should be remembered that the purpose of staggered registrations is to avoid waiting and to allow parents to carry out these formalities in advance and in good conditions. The congestion in the service also stems from the need for the community to regularize the files of parents with unpaid canteens. In fact, unpaid debts must be regularized in the computer software before they can then complete the registration formalities for the new school year. This compulsory regularization considerably slows down the registration process and causes a longer wait for parents.
The Caisse is aware of these inconveniences for parents and will endeavor in the future to find solutions to avoid waiting.
For the time being, the CTOS is making every effort to speed up the registration process.
In addition, the CTOS is studying the possibility of creating an online registration portal for registration formalities for the school canteen and extra-curricular activities. The cost of this device requires an investment of around 25 euros. The finances of CTOS, whose 000 budget is in imbalance, do not allow such an expense, especially as the structure is being evaluated and reorganized to find solutions to return to balance and better functioning adapted.
As a reminder, the price of the canteen meal is set at € 3 for pupils in 1st degree schools and € 4 for pupils in secondary schools. Payments can be made by credit card (from € 20) or in cash. The registration fee is € 8 per file.
CTOS thanks the parents for their understanding and invites them in the future to complete their registration formalities as soon as possible.
