The company Innovation Médicale Caraïbes, located in Quartier d'Orléans, specializes in the retail sale or rental of medical and orthopedic items in specialized stores.
Native of Guyana, Julien Duclos arrived in Saint-Martin at the age of eight where he followed a traditional education until high school. Holder of a professional baccalaureate in sales, Julien continued his studies in a business school in Lyon.
After several experiences in different professional fields, Julien Duclos decided to take the plunge and open his own company in the medico-social with his partner, Ananda Arnell. Thus, Innovation Médical Caraïbes opened its doors in June 2021 in Quartier d'Orléans thanks to the support of Initiative Saint Martin Active.
“I wanted to continue my professional career in the field of health and be closer to people, to customers. My ultimate goal was to start opening a company selling and renting medical equipment,” says Julien.
“My strategy is to make myself known to a greater number of health professionals and the general public. Word of mouth also happens naturally. Satisfied customers say so and recommend me. Finally, I prospect with general practitioners, physiotherapists, home help associations, nurses… My objective is to set my store apart from other traders. I have made my establishment a warm, welcoming place where you can talk quietly. I give my clients a friendly welcome, a broad smile and I am 200% available for them! I try, whatever the situation, to find the best solution for them and those around them.
Today I absolutely do not regret this commitment and I am fully fulfilled in my new job. I find this activity very gratifying and enriching both professionally and personally.
To do this job, you need a lot of empathy, sometimes a lot of patience. A lot of dynamism to be on all fronts (store, delivery and prospecting)”.
