Initially planned at Cul-de-Sac, the 20th edition of the “Fish Day” will finally take place in the Galisbay car park on June 5

The “Fish Day”, usually organized in the bay of Cul-de-Sac, will finally be moved to the Galisbay car park in Marigot, Sunday June 5. This change of location is exceptional due to the massive arrival of Sargassum algae expected in the area in the coming days,  until June 5.

Cul-de-Sac Bay is currently being cleaned up. The massive arrivals of Sargassum seaweed have an impact on the quality of life and the health of local residents.

The community has been able to restart the clean-up work since the beginning of last week and will make every effort to remove the algae as it arrives on our shores.

Priority has been given to cleaning the bay of Cul-de-Sac so that the company's machines in charge of removing algae will be on the job for as long as necessary to try to overcome these recalcitrant algae.

It will be the same in Mont Vernon and Baie Lucas where the company in charge of cleaning these two sites received its service order on Monday May 23rd. She will therefore intervene quickly to carry out the cleaning.

The problem of Sargassum seaweed remains unresolved, as manual cleaning alone cannot respond to this large-scale environmental pollution, caused by the illicit activities of certain South American countries. _AF
