Infrastructure: Two months of work required for the renovation of the Sandy-Ground bridge

The Community will carry out major work on the structure of the Sandy-Ground bridge from July 19. In fact, maritime traffic will be entirely interrupted between July 19 and September 20, and road traffic between August 9 and September 8.

Cost of realization:

The overall cost of the operation includes studies, management and execution of works, for an amount of € 1.

This operation is financed up to 58% by the ERDF and up to 42% by the Collectivité of Saint-Martin.

 

Completion deadlines :

The period of execution of the second phase of work is scheduled between Monday July 19 and Monday September 20, 2021 and consists of:

- The installation of the site, the footbridge and the scaffolding, between Monday July 19 and Monday August 9.

- Bridge dismantling work between Monday 9 and Wednesday 18 August;

- Assembly work on the new bridge between Wednesday August 18 and Wednesday September 8;

- Dismantling of the footbridge, scaffolding and site installations between September 8 and 20.

 

A pedestrian and cycle bridge:

- All motorized vehicles will have to take a detour route, via the borders of Bellevue and Terres-Basses.

- A cycle footbridge will be set up for the exclusive use of pedestrians and bicycles. Instructions to be observed because the footbridge must not be used by  motor vehicles.

Two dedicated lanes (pedestrians / bicycles) will be built on the footbridge and delimited by a physical separator.

- The rotations of city minibuses will be maintained.

Users will then have to take the footbridge on foot to take the bus which will be waiting on the other side to continue their route.

 

Waste management :

- The collection of household waste, bulky items and plant waste, as well as the removal of end-of-life vehicles will be carried out at the usual frequencies.

 

Emergency management:

- The services of the national gendarmerie and the territorial police will ensure the same frequency of patrol over the whole of the Sandy-Ground peninsula.

- Medical assistance vehicles - firefighter, ambulance, SMUR, doctor, home care, etc. - will take the detour route via the Dutch side (cooperation agreement).

 

Back to School:

- If the end date of the work has been set for Monday, September 8, it is understood that the Community will do everything possible to accelerate the work so as to reopen the bridge to road traffic, from September 2, for the start of the school year. classes.
