A major brush fire broke out in Simpson Bay, near the police station. The fire started Tuesday, mid-morning, and did not cause property damage.
Two firefighters were dispatched to the scene of the incident between the Simpson Bay police station and the waterfront.
The fire occurred on land previously occupied by a car rental company, which has since been overgrown with thick brush and shrubs. A thick plume of black smoke immediately covered the area without, however, the need to evacuate the immediate surroundings. The firefighters contained the fire, which did not spread to neighboring dwellings._RM
