He steals a check from his friend and has it cashed by another person for cash

AD, 40, was again summoned to the criminal court of Saint Martin on Thursday, October 25. The security guard at La Poste de Marigot was prosecuted for having, on December 23, 2016, stolen a check from KR, one of his friends, and forged his signature. AD wrote a check for 400 euros which he made payable to another of his friends. He then asked her to cash it out and give her some cash instead.

When KR sees that 400 euros have been debited from his account, he requests a copy of the check from his bank. He realizes that it was not he who issued it and that the check stub has disappeared. He also does not know LF, the recipient of the check. He therefore decides to file a complaint.

When LF is heard by the gendarmes, he explains that he received a call from AD, his friend and former colleague, who asked him to exchange a check for cash. AD, absent at the hearing, admitted the facts to the investigators. He said he needed the money for medical reasons.

An explanation that the court has trouble hearing. AD was indeed sentenced last September to four years in prison, one of which was suspended for stealing 227 euros from an homeless person. An arrest warrant had been issued and AD has since been on the run. He was also absent at the hearing on October 000.

AD, whose criminal record mentions some other convictions, was sentenced to eight months in prison for theft and forgery of the check.
