The selection of Golfers from the “Tamarins” won the traditional “Concordia Cup” last weekend against the St Maarten Golf Association (SMGA).

This competition in team and individual match play, sees golfers from the French side compete against each other from the Dutch side during the weekend of November 11, the feast day of Saint-Martin / Sint Maarten. and the Treaty of Concordia,

This year the date was postponed to November 28.

On Saturday at 8 a.m., the players set off in shot guns on the magnificent fairways of the moment in Mullet Bay, for the 4 balls formula: on each hole we take the best score of the 2 players of each team who each play their ball. The morning ended to the advantage of Sint-Maarten 5,5 to 3,5. (A match won = 1 point, a draw = 0,5 point).

Then it was time to regain strength with some well-appreciated pizzas.

At around 12:30 pm the players left for 18 holes in the “foursome” formula: the 2 players hit the same ball alternately until the end of the hole.

At the finish line, the results improved for the “Tamarins” who scored a total of 6,5 points, against 2,5 for SMGA, ie a total for the 1st day from 10 to 8 for the Tamarins.

The next day to win, our players had to confirm and win at least 8 of the 18 individual games still in “match-play”.

And our Tamarins did better than that on Sunday by winning 9 games and sharing the points in 2 others to bring the final score to 20 for Saint-Martin against 16 for Sint Maarten.

Saint-Martin won for the 2rd consecutive year the Concordia Cup.

The SMGA awarded Chiara, the mascot of the Tamarins, the Trophy which has been bearing the name of her dad Jason since 2010 (Slow, already 10 years old, you are in our hearts).

The Tamarins, overjoyed, could finally push their Oolllllllééééé and savor their deserved victory.

During this annual meeting, it was a new opportunity to reiterate the friendship that links players of all nationalities representing the friendly golf island.

Les Tamarins thanks SMGA for the organization with more particularly Gitte as well as Howard for the manicured preparation of the course. _AH

Next golf meeting on Saturday 12 December, for the unmissable SMGA Christmas scramble with a Santa Claus costume contest and cart decorations. More info on golf in Saint-Martin: golftamarinsxm@gmail.com.
