Last Friday, Lieutenant-Colonel Sébastien Manzoni organized a starting drink at the Yacht Club on the occasion of the end of his contract in Saint-Martin. It was in the presence of elected officials and representatives of civil society that this festive and convivial ceremony took place.

Between 2015 and 2018, villainous physical violence fell by 70%, including armed robberies which dropped from 129 to 40, while burglaries fell by 58%. At the time of the assessment, the lieutenant-colonel considers that there have been significant advances, in particular with two coordination agreements between the gendarmerie and the territorial police, the launch of the vigi-commerce device, the recruitment of 20 new reservists and a social worker in the gendarmerie, as well as a regular link in national education.
However, “we cannot let our guard down (…) The northern islands gendarmerie still has many challenges to meet”. Particularly with the deployment of the new territorial plan which should see the light of day next September, the arrival of nearly 40 assigned gendarmes, international cooperation in connection with the State and the Dutch government, and of course the fight against all forms delinquency.
