GASTRONOMY: Cooking workshops on the village square in Orient Bay

0

As part of the Gastronomy Festival, mobile cooking stations have been installed on the village square for a day dedicated to cooking workshops open to children and adults.

The day started with the Saint-Martin chef Kénila Hyman and her Caribbean brunch recipe. Hosted by Malaïka Maxwell, a talented local singer, each workshop was given simultaneously in French and English, broadcast live on the Facebook page of the Tourist Office, organizer of the Gastronomy Festival which runs until November 30th. . Several children between 6 and 13 years old took part in this first workshop, accompanied by a parent or an adult to assist them in the preparation of this typical dish. The budding chefs applied themselves, focused on the tasks to be carried out while being guided by the chef who was making her recipe at the same time as them. The second workshop with other children was led by the French chef Laurent Huguet with the succulent culinary proposal, the lollipop pancakes. The pancake turn was discovered several talents! The afternoon was reserved for adults and sponsors of the Festival de la Gastronomie, with Guadeloupe chef Jimmy Bibrac and French chef Michel Portos. The scents emitted on the village square made the assembly and workshop participants salivate. Jimmy Bibrac has taken amateur cooks into his world with his marlin tartare recipe with roucou sauce and citrus fruits with his green mango salad with sweet pepper. Michel Portos ended the day in a good mood with his legendary humor by cooking his seared local fish fillet, fennel-saffron-orange, mashed sweet potato with a fork and arugula shoots. All the dishes made during the various workshops were tasted by the participants between each activity. The next workshops will take place on Saturday, November 27 at the Fort Louis Marina in Marigot.

If the morning workshops for children are already full, registrations for adult workshops are open, via the Festival de la Gasronomie website. _VX
