On Monday October 28, the Philipsburg police headquarters received various telephone calls indicating that shots had been fired on Middle Region Road, near the Samuels Bakery store. Police and ambulance patrols were immediately dispatched to the scene of the shooting.
On the spot, the police found a man who was lying on the ground and who had gunshot wounds. The victim gave no sign of life. According to initial findings by law enforcement, there were two other men who also had gunshot wounds and were in very critical condition.
On site, paramedics gave first aid to the injured before transporting them to the Sint Maarten Medical Center. The investigators then received information about the victims who had been transported to the hospital, and who said that one of them had died as a result of his injuries. Shortly thereafter, the police center received another call indicating that a fourth victim had come to the Sint Maarten Medical Center and that she had gunshot wounds. Injuries which, however, were not life threatening.
