Five young volunteer firefighters from the Saint-Martin barracks will soon integrate the professional firefighter training at the Departmental Center of Guadeloupe. Once their training is completed, these 5 young firefighters will be able to integrate as professional firefighters, the new Saint-Martin Fire and Rescue Center, which will be created by the end of this year.

This is an important step forward for the Saint-Martin barracks, which is currently undergoing restructuring. The Collectivity, which supports the budget of the barracks to the tune of 3 million euros per year, funded the recruitment and competitive training of 12 professional firefighters in 2019, which opens up the possibility of recruiting 5 firefighters. standout professionals.

The President of the Collectivity has chosen to give these young people of Saint-Martin a chance and to offer them the opportunity to acquire a profession and to work in the service of the safety of the inhabitants.

These 5 firefighters have been serving the Saint-Martin barracks as volunteers for more than 3 years and satisfy their hierarchy with regard to their professional qualities. They have successfully passed a physical aptitude test, which allows them to join the Departmental Training Center of Vieux-Habitants in Guadeloupe for a 1-year internship. They will be able to integrate the new Fire and Rescue Center by the end of their internship, which will complete the operational team serving the Saint-Martin population.
